AdvisorCalc Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to personal information processed through the Service.

It does not govern the independent privacy practices of third-party services, websites, or applications that may be linked to or used in connection with AdvisorCalc.

The Service is currently intended for users in the United States.

We collect information in the following categories.

A. Account information

When you create or manage an account, we may collect:

• Your email address;
• Your password through our authentication provider;
• Your optional name;
• Your user or account identifier;
• Your account status;
• Your subscription status; and
• Information relating to account creation, login, deletion, or administration.

Authentication and password management are provided by Clerk. AdvisorCalc does not intend to receive or store your plain-text password.

At present, account access is available through email and password rather than social-login providers.

B. Payment and subscription information

When you begin a paid trial or purchase a subscription, Stripe may collect and process information such as:

• Your name;
• Email address;
• Billing address;
• Payment-card or other payment-method information;
• Transaction details;
• Subscription plan;
• Billing interval;
• Trial and renewal dates;
• Payment status;
• Refunds;
• Failed-payment information; and
• Fraud-prevention information.

AdvisorCalc does not directly collect or store full payment-card numbers. Payment information is handled by Stripe.

We may receive limited billing and subscription information from Stripe, such as the customer identifier, subscription status, payment status, billing period, plan, and transaction history.

C. Calculator inputs and outputs

When you use a calculator, the information you enter is transmitted through an application programming interface to server-based Python calculation software. The software processes the inputs and returns the requested output.

AdvisorCalc does not intentionally:

• Save calculator inputs as part of your account;
• Save calculator outputs as part of your account;
• Create a history of your calculations;
• Use calculator inputs for advertising; or
• Sell calculator inputs or outputs.

Calculator inputs and outputs are used only as necessary to perform the requested calculation and return the result.

You should not enter highly sensitive information into a calculator, including:

• Social Security numbers;
• Financial account numbers;
• Payment-card numbers;
• Passwords or login credentials;
• Government identification numbers;
• Protected health information;
• Precise identifying information about a client; or
• Other information that is not necessary to perform the calculation.

You are responsible for ensuring that you have authority to enter any information relating to another person.

D. Technical and usage information

When you visit or use the Service, we and our service providers may automatically process limited technical information, such as:

• Internet Protocol address;
• Browser type;
• Device type;
• Operating system;
• Referring and requested pages;
• Date and time of access;
• Session identifiers;
• Authentication events;
• Request metadata;
• Approximate location derived from an IP address;
• Security and fraud-prevention signals;
• Cookie or similar identifiers; and
• Information about errors, performance, or attempted misuse.

This information may be generated by hosting, authentication, payment, network, or security providers in the ordinary operation of their services.

AdvisorCalc uses PostHog Cloud in the United States for limited website, product-usage, and performance analytics.

These analytics may include pages viewed, page leave events, session duration and bounce-rate related information, referring pages, requested pages, UTM or source information when present, browser type, device type, operating system, approximate location derived from an IP address, date and time of access, session or pseudonymous identifiers, Web Vitals and performance metrics such as CLS, FCP, LCP, and INP, and limited product-usage events intentionally configured by AdvisorCalc.

AdvisorCalc does not intentionally send the following to PostHog:

• Calculator input values;
• Calculator output values;
• Calculator assumptions;
• Request bodies;
• Response bodies;
• Free-text financial details;
• Client names or client-identifying information;
• Social Security numbers;
• Financial account numbers;
• Payment-card numbers;
• Clerk identifiers;
• Stripe identifiers;
• Passwords;
• Authorization headers; and
• Cookies.

AdvisorCalc does not currently use PostHog session replay, heatmaps, automatic browser console log capture, AI observability, error tracking, experiments, feature flags, broad web autocapture, or dead-click autocapture.

AdvisorCalc also uses uptime monitoring and may use staged, metadata-only error monitoring and tracing when configured. Error-monitoring events are intended to exclude calculator inputs, calculator outputs, assumptions, account identifiers, payment identifiers, cookies, authorization headers, request bodies, and response bodies.

E. Communications

If you contact us by email, we may collect:

• Your name;
• Email address;
• The contents of your message;
• Attachments you provide; and
• Any other information you choose to include.

If we later introduce a contact form, information submitted through that form will be used to respond to the request and for related support, operational, or recordkeeping purposes.

F. Marketing information

We may use your email address to send information about AdvisorCalc, including new calculators, product changes, offers, or other promotional messages, where permitted by law.

Promotional messages will include a method to unsubscribe.

Even after you unsubscribe from marketing, we may continue to send account, billing, subscription, security, legal, and other non-promotional communications.

We may use personal information to:

• Provide and operate the Service;
• Create, authenticate, and administer accounts;
• Process calculator requests;
• Provide access to free and paid calculators;
• Administer trials, subscriptions, renewals, cancellations, and payments;
• Provide customer support;
• Communicate about accounts and subscriptions;
• Send marketing communications where permitted;
• Maintain the security and integrity of the Service;
• Detect fraud, misuse, abuse, or unauthorized access;
• Troubleshoot and improve the Service;
• Enforce our Terms of Service;
• Comply with legal obligations;
• Establish, exercise, or defend legal claims;
• Protect users, AdvisorCalc, and others; and
• Support a business transfer, reorganization, or formation of a legal entity.

We do not use calculator inputs to provide personalized financial advice or independently evaluate your financial circumstances.

The Service and its providers may use cookies, local storage, session identifiers, and similar technologies that are necessary to:

• Keep users signed in;
• Authenticate accounts;
• Maintain sessions;
• Process checkout and billing;
• Prevent fraud;
• Protect the Service;
• Remember essential settings; and
• Operate website and application functionality.

Some third-party providers, including Clerk and Stripe, may place or access their own cookies or similar technologies when providing authentication, payment, fraud-prevention, or related services.

AdvisorCalc does not currently use advertising cookies or cross-site behavioral advertising.

AdvisorCalc and its providers may also use cookies, local storage, session identifiers, or similar technologies for limited website, product-usage, and performance analytics, including pageview measurement, page leave measurement, session duration or bounce-rate related information, and Web Vitals or performance metrics.

AdvisorCalc does not currently use session replay, heatmaps, automatic browser console log capture, AI observability, PostHog error tracking, broad web autocapture, or dead-click autocapture.

We may introduce additional analytics or materially expand monitoring technologies in the future. Before materially changing how personal information is collected or used, we will update this Privacy Policy and provide any notice or consent required by applicable law.

You may configure your browser to block or delete cookies. Blocking cookies that are necessary for authentication, security, or billing may prevent parts of the Service from working.

We may disclose personal information as described below.

A. Service providers

We disclose information to service providers that help operate AdvisorCalc, including:

• Clerk, for authentication, account management, and user sessions;
• Stripe, for payment processing, billing, subscription management, and fraud prevention;
• Vercel, for website hosting, delivery, and infrastructure;
• Render, for application hosting and calculator processing;
• PostHog, for limited analytics and performance measurement;
• Better Stack, for uptime monitoring and alerting;
• Sentry, for staged metadata-only error monitoring and tracing when configured; and
• Other providers we may use for security, communications, support, infrastructure, or related business operations.

These providers may process information under their own agreements, privacy policies, and legal obligations.

B. Legal compliance and safety

We may disclose information when we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to:

• Comply with a law, regulation, subpoena, court order, or other legal process;
• Respond to a lawful government request;
• Enforce our Terms of Service or other agreements;
• Investigate fraud, abuse, or security threats;
• Protect the rights, property, or safety of AdvisorCalc, users, or others; or
• Establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.

C. Business transfers

We may disclose or transfer information in connection with:

• Formation of an LLC, corporation, or other business entity;
• A merger;
• Acquisition;
• Financing;
• Reorganization;
• Sale of assets;
• Transfer of the AdvisorCalc business; or
• Bankruptcy or similar proceeding.

Any successor may continue to process information subject to this Privacy Policy unless it provides notice of a different policy as required by law.

D. With your direction or consent

We may disclose information when you direct us to do so or give us consent.

AdvisorCalc does not currently sell personal information.

AdvisorCalc does not currently share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising or use personal information for targeted advertising across unrelated websites or services.

If these practices change, we will update this Privacy Policy and provide any choices required by applicable law before engaging in the changed practice.

We retain personal information for only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including providing the Service, complying with legal obligations, resolving disputes, preventing fraud, and enforcing agreements.

In general:

Account information is retained while your account remains active.

When you delete your account, the associated Clerk user record is intended to be deleted.

Account deletion is intended to trigger immediate cancellation of any linked active Stripe subscription.

Subscription and transaction information may be retained for accounting, tax, fraud-prevention, dispute, and legal-compliance purposes.

Communications may be retained as needed to respond to requests and maintain appropriate business records.

Technical, analytics, performance, and security information may be retained for a limited period by AdvisorCalc or its infrastructure providers.

Calculator inputs and outputs are not intentionally retained as calculation history or account records.

Residual information may remain temporarily in provider backups or security systems until it is overwritten or deleted in accordance with applicable provider processes.

We may retain limited information after account deletion where reasonably necessary to comply with law, prevent fraud, resolve disputes, collect amounts owed, or enforce agreements.

You may delete your account using the account-deletion controls made available through the Service or its account-management provider.

You may also contact admin@advisorcalc.com to request:

• Access to personal information associated with your account;
• Correction of inaccurate account information;
• Deletion of personal information;
• Information about how personal information is used; or
• Assistance exercising a privacy right available under applicable law.

We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request. Verification may require confirming control of the email address associated with the account or requesting other reasonable information.

We may deny or limit a request where permitted by law, including where we cannot verify identity, where information must be retained, or where a request would adversely affect another person’s rights.

Because Stripe independently processes certain payment information, some Stripe payment and transaction records may be retained or may require requests directly to Stripe.

You may opt out of promotional emails by:

• Selecting the unsubscribe link in a promotional message; or
• Contacting admin@advisorcalc.com.

Opting out of marketing does not prevent us from sending necessary account, billing, subscription, trial, security, or legal communications.

We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures intended to protect personal information.

These measures currently include:

• HTTPS encryption for communications with the Service;
• HTTPS-protected communication between the website and calculator API;
• Use of established hosting, authentication, and payment providers;
• Multi-factor authentication on administrative accounts;
• Limiting the personal information collected by AdvisorCalc;
• Avoiding direct storage of full payment-card numbers;
• Avoiding intentional retention of calculator inputs and outputs; and
• Restricting access to administrative services.

No security system is perfect. We cannot guarantee that information will never be accessed, disclosed, altered, lost, or destroyed without authorization.

You are responsible for selecting a strong, unique password and protecting your account credentials.

If we become aware of a security incident affecting personal information, we will investigate and take steps we consider appropriate under the circumstances.

Where legally required, we will notify affected individuals and applicable authorities.

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and you must be at least 18 years old to create an account or purchase a subscription.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

If you believe a child has provided personal information through the Service, contact admin@advisorcalc.com.

Third-party providers process information according to their own privacy notices and contractual obligations.

We encourage you to review the privacy policies of Clerk, Stripe, and other third-party services you use in connection with AdvisorCalc.

AdvisorCalc is not responsible for the independent privacy practices of third parties.

Some browsers offer “Do Not Track” or similar signals. Because there is no universally accepted standard for responding to all such signals, the Service may not respond to them.

AdvisorCalc does not currently engage in cross-site behavioral advertising.

Where applicable law requires recognition of a particular legally valid opt-out signal, we will take reasonable steps to honor that requirement.

AdvisorCalc is based in the United States, and information is processed in the United States or other locations where our providers operate.

If you access the Service from outside the United States, you understand that information may be transferred to and processed in jurisdictions with different data-protection laws.

The Service is not presently marketed or offered for international use.

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in:

• The Service;
• Our data practices;
• Our service providers;
• Applicable law;
• Security practices; or
• Business operations.

The updated policy will display a revised effective date.

If a change materially affects how we use previously collected personal information, we will provide additional notice or request consent where required by law.
